On the 28th of June there will be a movie evening organised at Loesje's imagination. The movies are all related to the Millennium Development Goals set by the UN to end poverty. It is a selection of documentaries made by people from different countries including Germany. Some of the documentaries are also avalaible online.
One of the documentaries with the title "Eyecamp" (13 min English with Dutch subtitles) is about a field hospital in India where in 2 weeks time over 14.000 people got operated on cataract. The documentary is made by Dutch, Paul van Strijp en Doeko Pinxt.
Doeko Pinxt is organising the evening and will also be present for questions related to the documentary. Most documentaries will be in English without subtitles.
The movie evening is part of an international project taking place in Germany, Nepal, Uzbekistan, Latvia and Kazachstan. The project with the title "the world is too round to sit silenty in the corner" targets to get
young people involved to realise the Millenium Development Goals. On www.mdg.loesje.org you can read about the different actions. The project will end with the publication of a practical handbook in English and Russian to guide young people to start their own actions.
